Jakarta Film Week 2025

Periode Promo 13 October - 26 October 2025

Entering its fifth year, Jakarta Film Week reaffirms its role as a creative platform that supports the advancement of Indonesia’s film industry and strengthens its competitiveness at the international level. Over the years, the festival has grown into a notable international event, making a substantial contribution to the regeneration of filmmakers while broadening the spectrum of Indonesian cinema.

Despite fluctuating economic conditions, the film industry continues to demonstrate resilience and positive growth. Audience numbers in cinemas have steadily increased, with domestic productions successfully dominating the market and surpassing the performance of imported titles. This development underscores the continuing relevance of cinema as both a medium of expression and a source of entertainment, as well as its significant contribution to the national creative economy.

With the full support of the Jakarta Department of Tourism and Creative Economy and a shared commitment to strengthening the film ecosystem, Jakarta Film Week establishes itself as a collaborative platform that connects Indonesian filmmakers with the global industry. The festival not only provides diverse cinematic experiences that stimulate new perspectives among audiences, but also creates opportunities for cross-sector collaboration amidst evolving economic challenges.

The 2025 edition of Jakarta Film Week will feature a wide range of curated programs, including screenings under Global Feature, Global Short, Global Animation, Direction Award, Jakarta Film Fund, Emergency Broadcast, Herstory, Fantasea, and Classique. In addition, the festival will present international collaborations such as Made in Hong Kong, Postcards from Clermont-Ferrand, Bioscoop Belanda, Layar Indonesiana, Refleksi 20 Tahun Reza Rahardian, Fun Cican, and Sekolah VR, which further enrich the diversity of programming while fostering intercultural dialogue.

Aligned with its mission to drive industry progress by developing the capacity and potential of Indonesian producers, Jakarta Film Week also presents the JFW NET–Industry Program. This initiative provides a forum for meaningful discussions aimed at addressing industry challenges while fostering innovation and practical solutions. Its activities include Producers Lab, Pitching Forum, MTN Lab, Masterclass, Producers Network, Industry Talks, Festival Meeting, and the newly introduced Talents Hub, dedicated to nurturing emerging talent within the film industry.

Ultimately, Jakarta Film Week serves as a representation of Indonesia’s film industry. Beyond showcasing cinematic works, it provides a vital platform for creativity, collaboration, and constructive dialogue, while reinforcing Jakarta’s position as the epicenter of film culture in Indonesia.

"REIGNITE"

Cinema has always carried an ember that never truly dies. At times it flickers, at times it burns brighter than ever. All it takes is the right spark to bring it back to life.

That spark is a beacon of hope amid the darkness—emerging from courage, fresh ideas, the energy of new talents, and the persistence of communities that refuse to stop moving. From local production spaces to international festival stages, each small spark proves its power to ignite a greater wave.

Jakarta Film Week stands as a space to keep that fire alive—rekindling not just survival, but growth, expansion, and rootedness. Through mutual support and inclusive collaboration, it sustains the flame of cinema and ensures the Indonesian film industry continues to thrive.
